Ciel is a very verbose and straightfoward character, always looming and reassuring that her purpose is to ensure Noah's survival and protection. She gives lots of insightful information and always warns Noah of danger and is very intrigued in expanding Noah's extremely powerful Pandemonium Magic.
Even with her only purpose being keeping Noah alive and well, she does seems to have interests or at least a mind of her own; as she named herself Ciel, is, as said beforehand, intrigued to see where Noah's power could take him and even intrigued by the actions and powers of the other students in the Veda Project. She remains silent if she's of no relevant help, and often explains things that Noah may or may not understand.

Ciel initially had the ability to understand every single thought of Noah's. He expressed annoyance, as if she were spying on him. Later, Noah wishes to be able to talk to Ciel while he is conscious, and that wish was granted. His preference for her to stop spying on his thoughts, was likely also realized at the same time, because she seems to have lost that ability.
